EMBRACE YOUTH PROGRAMS

We offer quarterly enrichment activities and workshops for participants aged 10 -17.  These recreational and educational activities focus on promoting intergroup contact, developing empathy and understanding of cultural and racial differences, creating and maintaining healthy identities, and exploring educational and career possibilities.

INTRODUCING SPRING 2021 EMBRACE YOUTH PROGRAMS

Today’s children, adolescents, and emerging adults are increasingly diverse. However, systemic racism impacts non-White youth. And racism is recognized as a fundamental cause of racial/ethnic inequality in an individual’s development. A prosocial identity is critical during adolescence when young people must navigate the impacts of social status and awareness and cannot be understated. But often overlooked in communities is the modern-day form of segregation that occurs and the lack of cross-racial and cross-cultural engagement within communities.

The EMBRACE Brotherhood and EMBRACE Sisterhood Programs (collectively, “the Youth Programs”). The Youth Programs empower youth to embrace compassion for themselves and the experiences of others and critically consider the steps they need to make to create lasting and meaningful change in their communities.

Through monthly social and civic events and cross-cultural and cross-racial mentorships, the Youth Programs will advocate for increased cultural awareness and sensitivity.
