We believe that children not only need to know what internalized and institutional racism looks like, they need to know what they can do about it.

“It is what you read when you don’t have to that determines what you will be when you can’t help it.” - Oscar Wilde

EMBRACE Action, and other local community organizations including the Islamic Center of Frisco, are collecting and distributing books to Frisco ISD elementary and middle schools.  Our goal is to deliver at least 5,000 books to our schools from a curated, vetted book list featuring diverse themes and characters.

We believe that it is important for all children to see many races, ethnicities, and cultures in the books that they read. Our goal is to leverage literature and also to help all kids in our community see and celebrate themselves in literature and to ensure that our libraries have a selection of books that represent all of our school-aged children.

Our Book Drive will end on National Reading Day, March 2, 2021.

There are two ways to contribute to our Book Drive:

1. AMAZON WISH LIST. We have over 50 recommended books that you can purchase electronically and have sent directly to Embrace Action. Our volunteers will deliver all books directly to elementary and middle school libraries. Access our wishlists below.

2. DONATE. Make a donation via credit card or bank account directly to Embrace Action and we will purchase books on our curated book lists from Black-owned, Independent, and local bookstores.
